about
Meet Karin Trachtenberg
Born and raised on the gritty streets of Manhattan, Karin brings an inner strength and a bit of New York attitude to every part she plays. Her piercing gaze is tempered with a radiant smile in on-screen roles ranging from badass boss to down to earth mom. Recurring roles as the sardonic EMT in Paragods, the wise-cracking best friend in Lily of the Valley or co-starring as a liberal elite mom in Showtime’s SMILF showcase a comedic flair. A reputation for honest, bold performances has led to leading roles in film projects that explore powerful themes of incest, family disfunction, and the challenges of single parenting.
A classically trained actress, Karin has tackled such major roles as Hamlet’s Polonius, King Agamemnon in Iphigenia in Aulis, and even performed in Latin as the Devil in Hildegarde Von Bingen’s Ordo Virtutum. When she isn’t busy breathing life into the drama of the great dead playwrights, Karin enjoys collaborating with contemporary writers. As producer and thespian she has championed countless new plays from staged readings to full productions.
Praised for her professionalism and facility with language, Karin is an experienced voiceover and narration actress. Always working on her craft, she trains with acting coaches Tim Phillips and James DuMont. She is honored to study with legendary voice and Shakespeare coach Patsy Rodenburg and is soon to receive certification as a registered Rodenburg teacher.
Having spent summers in Zurich with her maternal grandparents, Karin speaks Schweizer-Deutsch and has dual Swiss/US citizenship. She lives in New England where she raised two talented young adults. When she isn’t on stage, set, or in the audio booth, you can find Karin on the yoga mat and practicing Buddhism.
