On-Camera Experience
From Stage to Screen.
Moving between stage and film, I bring inner strength — and a touch of New York attitude — to every role I take on. With a piercing gaze and radiant smile, I shift easily from badass boss to down-to-earth mom or noisy neighbor. Known for my comedic timing, versatility, and fearless honesty, I’ve played leading roles that tackle powerful themes — from incest and family dysfunction to the raw realities of single parenting.

Stage Work
Grounded in craft.
I used to lament the lack of substantial roles for women—especially for women of a certain age. But that changed when I began focusing on great writing, reaching back as far as the Greeks, and discovering a wealth of powerful material.
My voice training became essential in this journey; learning to connect with my breath and inner strength opened the door to a whole new repertoire. Today, I’m regularly sought after for strong female characters and even traditionally male roles.
Some of my most exciting performance opportunities include:

Directing
The Sleepless Critic
“Pumpkin Pie is a lighthearted, yet distressed look at life’s pressures with zany direction by Karin Trachtenberg”
The Sleepless Critic
“(Three AM) tackles some harrowing troubles in contemporary society…One of the film’s best features is the apprehensive tone at the beginning that seemingly leads in one direction yet reveals another.”

Solo Show
"Trachtenberg is an incredible actress who played both parts, hers and her mothers, to perfection. Not a line, movement or motion on stage was wasted. One of these touches that was a gem—and particularly visibly poignant and perfect—was in a shawl that she wore over her shoulders, but then moved down and arranged so that it looked as if it was her mother’s hand."
Nitelife Exchange: Where Broadway, Jazz and Cabaret Meet
"A quiet, fun, frightening and beautiful performance by Trachtenberg as she wears the mask of her mother…a complicated and universal story all can relate to."
The Front Row Center (NYC)
(4.5 Stars)
"Karin’s performance, using mirrors, humor and dark Disney-esque stylings and mixed media was absolutely riveting."
Noho Arts District (Los Angeles)
"American actress, Karin Trachtenberg is set to enchant Edinburgh Fringe audiences this August with her poignant and affecting show."
